Every year, the Government of India hosts the Indian Mathematics Olympiad. The test is administered by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM).

The IMO is held across the country to identify candidates with mathematical aptitude who could be sent to represent our country worldwide.

  • IMO Sample Papers For Class 6 The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) class 6 comprises 50 questions for a total of 60 points, which are divided into four divisions as follows:
  • Logic and Mental Ability — This portion assesses students’ logical and mental abilities as well as their analytical and general intellectual abilities.
  • Level-I questions: The current class syllabus will account for 60% of the tests, while the prior class syllabus will account for 40%.
  • Mathematical Reasoning – This portion assesses the students’ comprehension of mathematical ideas as well as their calculative abilities. This section’s questions can be time-consuming and calculative.
  • Ordinary Mathematics — this component tests the candidate’s ability to think critically by asking him or her to combine everyday problems and manage them.
  • The level-II Olympiad exams will solely include questions from the current class syllabus.
  • Only current class syllabus questions will be asked in the ACHIEVERS SECTION.
  • The Achiever’s portion puts the pupils to the test with questions covering a wide range of topics.

Eligibility Criteria

Students can apply for the Olympiad either with the help of their school or apply individually if their school is not able to participate.

The SOF IMO test is open to students in grades 1 through 12. The SOF IMO exam is separated into two levels, each with its own set of eligibility requirements.

Level – I

The students’ eligibility conditions are shown below.

  • The student’s school must be affiliated with a recognized Indian educational body.
  • Once a year, students can take an IMO exam.
  • To register their pupils for the Olympiad exam through school, the school must be registered with the SOF foundation.

Level – II

The following are the requirements for students to take the SOF IMO level 2 exam.

  • The SOF IMO level 2 examination is only open to students in grades 3 through 12.
  • Level 2 tests will be open to the top 5% of candidates in each class who took the first level exam.
  • Students with 50 percent qualifying marks are qualified for level 2 tests if they are at the top of their class and at least 10 students from their class took the exam.

Registration process

  • Students in grades 1 through 12 are eligible to participate in the SOF IMO.
  • All SOF-registered schools receive a prospectus containing registration forms.
  • Schools that have not yet registered may get a prospectus by emailing SOF official mail.
  • By the due date, schools must return the registration forms to SOF, duly filled out and completed in all respects.

  • 70% of the syllabus from the prior session is covered in the first level exam.
  • You should practice using IMO previous year papers.
  • Examine the syllabus to determine and locate the resources you’ll need to learn about the various IMO subjects.

  • The IMO level questions are conceptual, in the sense that they do not need direct knowledge of concepts, but rather a grasp of how concepts are used.
  • You also need to know how to apply the concepts, which you can do by going through the “Achievers Section,” which has questions based on the advanced level application of principles.
  • You should be familiar with the concept and pattern, and you should practice Mathematical Olympiad sample problems based on the precise pattern of the level 1 IMO question papers from the previous year.
  • Solve IMO Maths Olympiad Class 6 Previous Year Question Paper.
  • Remember that the first level’s questions will come from your curriculum, but they won’t be easy.
  • The questions will not be based on direct concepts, but rather on sophisticated applications of concepts.
